On just the second day of in-person classes, Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) announced today that all classes will dismiss early “due to severe weather conditions.”
MCPS Emergency Message: 9/1/2021 @ 11:28am
All MCPS schools (including the Virtual Academy) will dismiss early today, Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021, due to severe weather conditions. Significant amounts of rainfall with the potential for dangerous flash flooding are expected as part of the remnants of Hurricane Ida. Students will be dismissed 2.5 hours earlier than the usual dismissal times. All school and community-use activities in school buildings also are canceled. Daycare programs in school buildings will be closed. MCPS employees will receive further information about the status of administrative offices.
Important notice: due to the storm, many MCPS schools and offices are currently without phone service. Please contact 240-740-3000 if you need assistance.
